In 2003 Ruth Yates founded Corks Out, an award winning wine shop and bar group. Over the years Corks Out has received over 30 awards and accolades for their customer service, team knowledge and point of difference in wine. In 2013 we were contacted by Corks Out founder Ruth Yates, 10 years after Corks Out was first launched they were looking for a way to enable to best wine selling and tasting experience.
Two years on and sales are up after installing our Le Verre de Vin preservation systems.
They use a Le Verre de Vin Tower which is designed for both still and sparkling wine as well as the Pod Bar which integrates the Tower with beautifully lit counter-top refrigeration. Pictured above is a Twin Pod at one of the bars.
Thanks to the Le Verre de Vin Tower, they offer 10 champagnes by the glass and six sparkling, including two English ones. They offer a Champagne Trio which is three 50ml serves of champagnes such as a Laurent-Perrier Ultra Brut, a non-vintage and a rosé or vintage.
“Mostly, it’s about choice, value for money and point of difference to other bars and retailers,” Ruth explains. “We have become a way of life to customers, somewhere they can explore something new, find out a bit about what’s in their glass and socialise at the same time.”
After installing a Pod Bar at Corks Out in Stockton Heath in Cheshire, sales of champagne rose by more than 30% over 12 months.
“It keeps wine and fizz fresh,”
Ruth says.
“This meant we could really open up what we wanted to serve, with Krug and Dom Pérignon hitting the menu. Customers loved it and volumes increased, not just by the glass but also on takeaway sales. We didn’t have to market it too much as word got around very quickly in terms of local customers.”
